VAN HORN, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – More than 800 pounds of marijuana were recovered in just 10 days near the Van Horn station, according to a release from the U.S. Border Patrol.
Officials say from May 19 through May 28 agents located several suspects carrying the marijuana in makeshift backpacks.
In total, agents recovered about 850 pounds of marijuana during the ten-day period.
“These seizures are a result of our agents’ resiliency and the coordinated efforts with a variety of agencies working to combat transnational criminal organizations that operate in our communities,” Patrol Agent in Charge of the Van Horn Station Jose Aleman said.
The 12 suspects, from Mexico and Honduras, have since been turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
