ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – After a successful dawn patrol, the balloons at the 46th International Balloon Fiesta went off without a hitch.
All eyes were up in the sky, and the cameras were out in full force.
“I’m blown away, literally, this is one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen,” said a college student from Texas.
People at this year’s Fiesta came from all over the country to see the hot air balloons take off, including six friends that have known each other for 30 years, who met up at Balloon Fiesta Park.
“This is a bucket list item for all of us, I would have to say,” said one of the ladies as she laughed.
They all said it was something they never expected, and said the destination reunion was well worth it.
“What is it about a hot air balloon that is just the most peaceful, beautiful, serene environment? And there’s hundreds of them,” said one of the friends.
Those ladies aren’t the only ones that traveled a long way to be a part of the magical event.
“I live in Maui, and this is my first time,” said a little girl that traveled with two of her cousins to see the Fiesta.
No matter where people traveled from, all the first timers said it’s a sight they’ll never forget.
