Family and friends came together to celebrate Emma “Faye” Daily’s 108th birthday on Monday.
Her actual birthday was on Sunday, but her family and staff at the Village at Manor Park knew they had to put together a party.
“She’s a little bit aggravated at me for doing this party, it kind of embarrasses her, I think,” said Marion Daily.
Faye was born in 1909 and grew up in a small town in Nebraska.
Her 75-year-old son, Marion, says Faye’s lived through her fair share of history.
“The living times were not easy in her years of middle age years,” said Marion.
During Faye’s 20’s, she endured the Great Depression and Dust Bowl, which made making a living as a farmer difficult.
Marion credits Faye’s ability to adapt and perseverance for making it through tough times.
“I know she worked hard all her life, lived very frugal. Like i said, she was a good cook,” said Marion.
Staff members at Manor Park say Faye enjoys working on crossword puzzles and reading magazines.
Marion says Faye continues to leave a legacy through her family and friends.
