ODESSA, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – It was a story of great tragedy. One that touched the hearts of thousands of people from Texas and beyond.

Jack and LeAndra Burcham experienced what most parents would consider one of their worst nightmares. The couple lost their triplets soon after they were born.

“We tried a whole year to pregnant. We were scared, excited… I mean our kids were so excited, because they were finally going to get a sister, LeAndra Burcham said.

The couple, along with their sons, had long awaited the arrival of two more boys and their first daughter.

The couple was out swimming with their sons when LeAndra felt contractions. She had been carrying her triplets for only 22 weeks, so she believed it was a false alarm. However, says she knew something was wrong when she could feel the triplets coming together. The Burchams barely made it to the hospital in time for delivery.

Their newborn sons, Jack and Witten passed that weekend and their daughter, Autumn, the very next day.

“It seems like you wake up and you’re just in a bad dream; like it’s not real. And the next minute, that’s it. They were all just too tired,” LeAndra Burcham said.

And while the family only had hours with their newborn children, it proved to be moments they wouldn’t soon forget.

Little did the Burcham’s know this would not be the legacy of their children.

As devastating as it was, the story quickly began to spread. News organizations in Texas, Indiana and Florida, among others, picked up the story and quickly began sharing it.

Jack, Witten and Autumn’s story brought out the best in those who heard it.

A GoFundMe account had been set up for the family as they would move through the difficult days that were ahead.

That account quickly grew to more than $19,000. More importantly, it was flooded with prayers for the family and additional resources that they could lean on.

The account is still open today and can be found here:
