ODESSA, Texas (Nexstar) – “Watch out, because we’re watching for you.”
That message is for whoever broke into Dan Goodwin’s truck last week, just off Buffalo Avenue and 50th Street.
Dan showed YourBasin.Com how he found his car.
“The glove box was up, this glove box was up. All of this was laying out on the seat. You know, where they rummaged through it like that,” Goodwin said.
The incident started around 4:30 in the morning. Dan said he’s an early riser, and was awake at that time. But when his outdoor motion-sensored lights went off, Dan didn’t think too much of it since the paper boy also comes at that time. It wasn’t until later that morning, he realized his car had been broken into.
“When you open the door, all your trash is laying in the seat of the truck, you pretty much know what happened,” Goodwin said.
So, he checked surveillance video. In the video, you can see Dan’s two cars. But the light is on in his truck’s cab. Moments after, what looks like two men – skinny in stature and at least one wearing a hoodie – make their way down the street. Dan said those guys are the suspects. Shortly later, a third person joins the two suspicious men, who are now across the street.
The video didn’t show the men inside of Dan’s truck. He said that’s because the truck’s driver side is in the camera’s blind spot.
“I think they’re just young, vindictive individuals, just having fun at 4:30 in the morning,” Goodwin said. “Didn’t have anything better to do, or maybe they had a purpose.”
The suspects didn’t get away with much. Instead, they got away with what Dan calls, some chump change.
“Is there any silver lining here?”
“Um, just lock your doors,” Goodwin laughs.
