Teenager hospitalized after shooting in Odessa

ODESSA, Texas (Nexstar) – An 18-year-old female is undergoing surgery after a shooting in Odessa.

Police say shots rang out just before 10 P.M. on the 2700 block of Kay Avenue.

The family whose house was shot at, told us off-camera, their teenage daughter was outside sweeping, when she was suddenly shot in the elbow. She is expected to be okay.

The family says the suspect opened fire from the street. Multiple rounds pierced the home, even hitting a parked car out front and a neighbor’s car. One neighbor described the moments that gunfire went off.

“I heard gunshots. It was one time. Then it was ‘duh-duh-duh-duh-duh’ over and over again,” the neighbor said. “My husband ran into the house cause I pushed the door open.

“It sounded like it was right across the street from me,” the neighbor continued. “These days you have to be safe and I got grandkids. My grandkids love to be outside, but now, not when it gets dark out.”

Meantime, the family whose home was shot at says something similar happened not too long ago. But the suspect only shot a parked car out front. Its windows are still shattered.
