“It made me feel special… More than I ever had."

STANTON, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – From break of dawn to light of day, residents in Stanton say Ms. Judy Ireton shows up to the crosswalk like clockwork.

“This crosswalk has been her biggest thing. She loves it the kids love her,” said colleague, Martha Ortiz.

Ireton has worked 19 years for Stanton Elementary School as a teacher’s aide. However, it is her 15 years of dedication to morning traffic that has made her quite the town celebrity.

“You can’t not go across the crosswalk in the morning when Judy is there and not smile,” added parent, Shawna Burch.

During the daytime, Ireton works side-by-side with special needs students. Rain, snow, sleet or shine, folks in Stanton can expect a definite forecast of “Juju Love.”

“The kids, they love her. She’s great with them, she works with them, she has a lot of patience with them, she does really good all the time with them.”

Ireton says she started working at Stanton Elementary School, with background in Education, after being a stay-at-home mom for 17 years. She needed to apply for a job after a period of illness. Little did she know, her relatives and would also dedicated themselves to Education, making the love of teaching a family affair.

“Every Friday, I like when she dances,” said first grade student, Alicia Clanton. “She always kind of looks out for us. It makes me feel very happy,” added third grade student, Brody Phelps.

“I’ll try not to cry. She loves her job, she loves our kids, she loves our community, She is a good neighbor, a good mother, you know, she’s a good employee at the school… She’s just a little part of what makes Stanton amazing,” said Burch.

Love: Ireton says it is the driving force behind everything she does.

“It’s nice to see them grow up and become something, you know? Just that they’re considered where they can learn. We like that very much. Oh, I love it love it love it,” exclaimed Ireton. “And when they dance with me, it’s even better. And when they give me hugs, it makes my life good.”

Making this recognition one she will never forget.

“It made me feel special… More than I ever had. It was very nice. Anyway, I do love my job.”
