WINKLER/LOVING COUNTY, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – If you’ve driven West on State Highway 302 recently, you may have noticed some road work happening West of Kermit. This is an oilfield roadway with capacity issues that TXDOT and MOTRAN are working to address.
Dustin Fawcett, the Vice President for MOTRAN Alliance Inc., says the road isn’t wide enough for the amount of traffic it receives so TXDOT is installing a “Super 2 Highway” or alternating passing lanes. This means there will be more opportunities to pass the larger vehicles West of Kermit all the way to US 285.
According to MOTRAN, the project could be completed in the next 6 to 8 months. For more on infrastructure around the Basin, visit MOTRAN’s website.
