PERMIAN BASIN, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – For the last few years, the MOTRAN Alliance has been working to improve broadband capabilities and telecommunication across the Basin and this year, a major step in that progress is coming to Midland; the Big Bend Telecom Data Center.

This new data center will protect and ensure that critical IT infrastructure stays connected no matter what, according to MOTRAN Vice President, Dustin Fawcett. The facility will service the energy sector, hospital systems, banking institutions, local government municipalities, school districts, and small businesses. Essentially, it will serve as a network hub for the region. The data center will also be partnering with content providers like Hulu, Netflix, and Amazon to improve user experience with faster downloading, and streaming on all platforms.

The Big Bend Telecom Data Center will be located near the Midland International Airport and is scheduled to open in late February or early March of 2021. You can find more information on Big Bend’s website.
