MIDLAND, Texas (Big 2/FOX 24) – The Midland Police Chief is reflecting on the mass shooting. He talked with us about Zach Owens, the Midland Police Officer injured in the violence.

We were there when he was released from the hospital in September of last year. Officer Owens was shot multiple times in the arm and hand. He also received treatment on his eye. Fortunately, these days he’s back at work.

Officer Owens was grievously injured, injuries that he will never fully recover from. But every day he goes out there, he puts on a uniform, he puts on the badge, gets in that patrol car, understanding the same or even even more circumstances if there is such a thing he may encounter and he does it willingly and without complaint.

Chief Herman says he’s proud of Owens, and he quote pushes forth our belief that we do have heroes.
