MIDLAND, Texas (Big 2/FOX 24) – They are all volunteers working to make a difference.  We’re talking about the Midland County Sheriff’s Office Mounted Patrol.

Right now, there are 22 members.  They specialize in crowd control, evidence searches, and honorary escorts.  We recently caught up with them.

“I’ve been 15 years on here, and doing that, we’ve done a lot.  We’ve traveled and helped other agencies in other counties,” said Randy Scannell, M.C.S.O. Mounted Patrol.

“A lot of times, we’re not up there where the people can see us.  We stay behind the scenes, and if we are needed, then we come out.,” said Johnny Rodriguez,  M.C.S.O. Mounted Patrol.

The group started in 1990, and they are funded by donations.
