ODESSA, Texas (Big 2 / Fox 24) – Friends and family gathered at Sherwood Park on Sunday night to remember the life of 18 year-old Evan Hill, who life was tragically cut short early Saturday morning.

Hill was killed after the truck he was riding in collided with another vehicle at the intersection of 52nd St. and Clover in North Odessa.

Many people arrived to Sherwood Park for a balloon release in Hill’s honor. The memorial was organized by Hill’s friends and teammates, they said Evan was always there for them, no matter what.

“I just wish we could’ve had a different conversation before I said my goodbyes,” said Jordan Lujan, one of Hill’d friends. “He was too much of an amazing kid just to leave.”

“His passion for life was out of this world,” said Mark Matta, Hill’s soccer coach. “He was able to bring people together. This is evident. This whole thing being organized in one day is a testament to who he was. The comfort that we have is knowing that he is in heaven rejoicing right now. So we look towards that. We look towards seeing him one day up in heaven and rejoicing with him again.”

A Go Fund Me page has also been set up to support Hill’s family as they continue to mourn their loss.
