ODESSA, Texas (Big 2/FOX) – It’s free pancake day at IHOP but it’s actually much more than it sounds. IHOP restaurants in Odessa and Midland gave guests a free short stack of their famous buttermilk pancakes.
However, their hope is that restaurant goers will make a difference and donate money to the Children’s Miracle Network. It benefits the Medical Center Health System in Odessa and provides all sorts of assistance for young patients.
“We’ve had a really good outcome today, a lot of people have donated,” said Vanessa Salazar, IHOP Assistant Manager.
Ethan Whitehead is the District Manager for IHOP in the Permian Basin. He said, “I’ve worked at IHOP’s all over the country and something about West Texas. The people really care around here.”
“I always hear we never thought it would happen to us, you know we have healthy kids and the next day we’re in a pediatric unit. So, you just never know when it’s going to happen to you,” said Haley Howey, Children’s Miracle Network.
This event has been going on since 2006. The best part is that 100-percent of the proceeds stay here locally.
