ODESSA, Texas (Big 2/FOX 24) – Some tips to help you stay “Fit with FOX” during the holiday season. ‘Tis the season for many to overindulge.
“We see a lot of people falling off their nutrition plans and their exercise routines,” said Whitney Estes, F45 Studio Manager.
Three local fitness experts are sharing some advice. “I think it’s important to push beyond what you’re used to doing,” said Zachary Rodriguez, F45 Ponderosa West Head Trainer.
Personal trainer, Zachary Rodriguez, gives us some easy leg exercises. “They’re going to target your entire legs,” said Rodriguez.
He suggests air squats, a reverse lunge, and a forward lunge.
“You’re going to get more bang for your buck whenever you perform these movements,” said Rodriguez.
“I had taken three years off my active lifestyle, and I had my baby, I had back surgery. I gained a lot of weight,” said Kristen Peterson, F45 Ponderosa West Coach.
Now Coach Peterson is 20 pounds lighter.
“I feel like I have more energy. I feel better every day,” said Peterson.
She shared with us some ab exercises.
“The core exercises I’m going to show you are going to be the plank feet twist,” said Peterson.
This mom also suggests a reverse crunch and a bicycle for the core. “I think the most popular thing you’re going to do for arms is push-ups,” said Estes.
Estes talks with us about arm exercises. “You can also just hold a plank either from your hands or your elbows,” said Estes. “Then, another thing that we like to do is a straight arm plank. We like to do shoulder taps or hand taps.”
Bottom line, balance is key, especially during the holidays. “When you feel good about yourself, you’re just happier,” said Estes.
Remember your eating habits also play a big part in your journey to a healthy lifestyle. If you’re just starting, these experts say keep it simple and build from that.
