MIDLAND, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) The 9th Annual Sporting Clay event to benefit the Boys and Girls Club of the Permian Basin is coming up on Friday, October 2, and it’s the perfect way to spend some time outside and support a great organization.
The Boys and Girls Club of the Permian Basin provides after-school programs and a daily hot meal to boys and girls, ages 6 and up, in the community. Pre-COVID, they were serving 800 kids a day but with restrictions they are now serving about 400 a day. According to David Chancellor, the Executive Director, the organization has received very little federal funding because of the community’s support but because of the pandemic, they have has to cancel many fundraisers this year.
Fortunately, they are still able to hold their annual clay shoot fundraiser on Friday, October 2, where donors can sign up on their own or as a team to shoot clay pigeons and support the children who attend the Boys and Girls Club year-round. Rotations start at 9 AM and 1 PM with shooting options ranging from individual slots for $200 to 6-man teams for $1,000. You can find more information and register for the event on the Club’s website.
