Hispanic student to be first in his family to graduate with a college degree

Hispanic Heritage Month

ODESSA, Texas (Big 2/Fox 24) – We continue to make to celebrate Hispanic Heritage here in the Basin.

A UTPB student says he wants to make his family proud and he is sure to do that.

UTPB student Joshua Lujan is set to graduate this year.

But what’s most notable, he will be the first in his family to get a college degree.

“I feel like that’s my motivation throughout my entire academic career. It’s more less, like I have to make my family proud but I also have to make myself proud and I have to prove to myself I can do this. This is what I’m here to do and I’m going to be able to accomplish that any way that I possibly can,” said Lujan.

Lujan is set to graduate with a Bachelor’s in Music Education. He says, he’s excited for the transition from student to teacher.
