ODESSA, Texas (YourBasin) – The Odessa Jackalopes will be hosting a special event this weekend at the Ector County Coliseum with a mission to help those affected by the August 2019 mass shooting.

On Saturday, families of those affected by the tragic shooting will be present for a special on-ice tribute before the game. Following the ceremony, the Jackalopes will take the ice wearing specialty #PermianBasinStrong jerseys. The jerseys are wrapped with the words “hope, courage, and faith.” A message the team says symbolizes unity and strength as the community recovers.

Jason Ruff, the team’s media and broadcast director says this event is all about highlighting our community’s strength and unity in the wake of the tragic shooting. Ruff goes on to say this event is also about honoring the victims and their families.

Game-worn jerseys will be up for auction after the game. Part of the proceeds raised will go to help those affected by the mass shooting. The tribute will begin at 6:30 PM Saturday. Puck drops at 7:15 PM.
