Katie Orth joined the KMID/KPEJ news team in May of 2017 as an evening news anchor for ABC Big 2 News. She sits alongside Karsen Buschjost to present your 5, 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts Monday through Friday.

Katie is a Texas native. She was born in Austin, then her family moved to Sugar Land where she was raised. Katie attended Texas A&M University, where she graduated with a degree in Communications and Journalism. 

While in school, Katie started her first job in the broadcasting industry at KAGS in College Station as a sports multimedia journalist.

From then on, Katie knew broadcasting was the field she wanted to pursue.

After graduating she turned that dream into a reality. Katie moved to San Angelo to work as a sports and news anchor with KIDY Fox News First. 

After her time there, Katie was so excited to move to Midland to join the KMID/KPEJ team.

Katie says when she isn’t working, she enjoys her free time exercising, reading, trying new recipes, traveling and spending time with loved ones. She also has a YouTube channel where she vlogs weekly on a variety of topics. She says that platform has turned into one of her favorite hobbies!
