MIDLAND, Texas (ABC Big 2) – Midland is home to a lot of great food trucks but this shack stays in one place!
I go the chance to talk with the owners and chefs about the shack and their journey to get it started.
“Just something that kinda fell into place and it all worked out the way it was supposed to and we’re here now,” said Jaime del Campo
“Y’know, this place just popped up on our radar and we went for it, dove in. We were like ‘alright,'” said John Darcy.
Dead End Food Shack has all kinds of tailgate goodies, but the chef’s favorite?
“I really love the ‘phat chick,’ that’s mine and Johnnie’s favorite,” said del Campo.
Chase response, ” and what’s on the ‘phat chick’?”
“So it comes with crispy chicken, or grilled chicken, cheddar, bacon, coleslaw, pickles, and thousand island,” says del Campo
Of course, they’re not actually made with roadkill.
“Carne asada fries, man, they’re super popular, everyone loves them,” exclaimed del Campo
They let me check out their kitchen to see where the magic is happening and there’s plenty of it.
The shack is rolling out a special menu for the Big Game.
“Yeah we’ll do platters, big platter like wings, we’re gonna do sliders, nachos, mozzarella sticks, big stuff, and a couple of little things too,” said John and Jaime.
The food is delicious but if you want to get you some roadkill for the Big Game, make sure to order up ahead of time.
