Ryan DePhillips

Ever since Ryan was a little kid, the northeast New Jersey native has had a keen interest in looking up at the sky and observing the weather. Then, after his father put on The Weather Channel during one fateful day in August of 2005, that interest became an unwavering and inspiring passion.

Hurricane Katrina battered New Orleans on August 29th, and as Ryan watched The Weather Channel coverage, he couldn’t help but think how amazing the power of what 150 + mile per hour winds were capable of. However, he also couldn’t help but recognize how meteorologists like Jim Cantore and Stephanie Abrams risked their own lives to save countless others.

This pivotal point in Ryan’s life made him the biggest weather fanatic to everyone he met over the next 12 years until he was accepted to The Pennsylvania State University.

After four years of countless memories and a bunch of “WE ARE” chants, he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Meteorology and Atmospheric Science from Penn State in May of 2021.

Right around graduation, despite dealing with a global pandemic, Ryan persevered with an abundance of support and landed a spot here at KMID as The Morning Meteorologist.

Make sure to message Ryan about the weather, baseball, skiing, hiking, or any questions, comments, or concerns that you have. You can connect with him via Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, view his portfolio, or send him an email.
