Rob Tooke

Rob Tooke joined ABC Big 2/Fox 24 in January 2021 as a reporter.  He’s now on the Weekend Anchor desk.

He was born and raised in Redlands, California.  Before moving to West Texas, He worked as a at the CBS affiliate in San Francisco as a writer/producer.  In 2019, Rob was part of the team that launched CBSN Bay Area, a 24/7 digital streaming platform in association with KPIX-TV.

He’s always had a passion for journalism.  In high school, Rob worked at his high school’s newspaper.  Rob attended the University of California at Berkeley from 2014 to 2018. He is a good friend of Oski and carries the spirit of ‘O’ with him. Rob wrote for The Daily Californian for three years and was an active brother in Phi Delta Theta for four years.

Rob graduated from UC Berkeley with two degrees: in French and in Interdisciplinary Studies (ISF). In December 2018, Rob submitted his ISF undergraduate senior thesis on the effects of Fairtrade certification on hired wage labor in the coffee-exporting countries, Uganda and Ethiopia. Rob calls that his best literary achievement, to date.

While writing his thesis, Rob felt overzealous and applied to work at CBS in San Francisco. He got lucky. With no background experience in broadcast journalism, he worked his way up at the TV station before getting his chance to be on-air here in Midland/Odessa.

If you have a story idea for Rob, he’d love to hear from you.  You can reach him on Facebook or you can email him.
