UTPB Basketball Season Ends in Sweet Sixteen

CANYON, TX (Local 2/Fox 24) - The UTPB basketball team fell to West Texas A&M 95-87 Tuesday in the NCAA Division II Regional Championship game.

It is the third loss to WTAMU for the Falcons this season. Daeshon Francis led the team with 31 points on the night and James McPherson added 20.

The Falcons trailed by as many as 20 points in the game before cutting the deficit to just four points late in the second half.

UTPB finishes the season at 26-7 on the year in the Sweet Sixteen. The run marks the deepest in school history.

West Texas A&M is one of eight teams to advance to the NCAA Division II National Tournament in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
