42-Year-Old UTPB Defensive Tackle Plays in First Game

ODESSA, TX (Local 2/Fox 24) - He might have 20 years on all of his teammates - but he definitely has their respect.

Jeff Neely is a 42-year-old college senior who is set to graduate in December.

He is a walk-on defensive tackle for the UTPB football team - but you might have seen him on the stage before the sideline.

He has played the villain in the hit local theater series Summer Mummers for about 15 years. His beard and mustache have been a symbol for the show over the years.

Neely got his first playing time Saturday in UTPB's 42-7 win over Quincy in Miami, Okla.

Our own Candace Martino has the story in the video above.
