Zuzu Verk Memorial Tonight

ALPINE, Texas (Local 2/Fox 24) - A memorial for former Sul Ross State University Student Zuzu Verk is set for tonight.

Crowds are expected to pack the outdoor amphitheater at the university between the Warnock Science Building and the Lobo Village Residence Halls at about 6:30 p.m.

Verk went missing back on Oct. 12 and her remains were found last week in a shallow grave just outside of Alpine.

Her former boyfriend Robert Fabian and a second suspect, Chris Estrada, have been arrested and charged in connection with the investigation.

Since she went missing, support and well-wishes have flooded in for the family.

At the end of January, a family friend began compiling support notes, coming in from across the world, in support of the Verk family.

However, tonight Zuzu's friends, fellow students and family will share their memories of a woman described as a "flower" and someone that was a "bright light" in many lives.

The Verk family has also asked, in lieu of flowers, gifts by made to the

Zuzu Verk Memorial Scholarship Fund in Natural Resource Management
C/O SRSU Office of External Affairs
