Bonner Bolton Talks About His Dancing With The Stars Debut

ODESSA, Texas (Local 2/Fox 24) - Odessa native, Bonner Bolton, is taking the dance floor for the first times as he moves from bull rider to ballroom dancer.

Dancing With The Stars debuts Monday night on ABC, and Bolton says it's a huge blessing to be amongst the star-studded cast.

The local rodeo star tells Local 2/Fox 24 this new challenge is a huge opportunity after a tragic rodeo injury that left him temporarily paralyzed.

"It's big for me to go all the way from fully paralyzed from the neck to dancing, obviously when the feeling came to my body I wanted to jump up and dance," he said

Bolton tells us he hopes to inspire others with his story.

"I came on this show, number one hopefully to inspire people and show people there's never a reason to give up on yourself, there's always a reason to push forward," he said.

Bolton says the competition is stiff, and he feels a little out of his element going against celebrity idols like Mr. T.

"I might be more nervous than climbing a bull right now."

Despite the nerves, Bolton says he's in it to win it, and his roots won't change.

"You can take the cowboy out of Texas, but you can't take the Texas out of a cowboy for sure," Bolton said.
