Undocumented Immigrant Rescued Near Alpine

ALPINE, Texas (Local 2/Fox 24) - A 22-year-old Mexico resident was rescued and taken into custody after being swept away by water currents in Brewster County. 

U.S. Border Patrol Agents were conducting routine operations when they noticed someone near the river. 

Officials say the man told the agents he wanted to surrender to authorities, but later jumped into a nearby river. 

The man was reportedly swept away by the currents and had to be rescued by the agents. 

Following the rescue, agents turned the man over to the Alpine Border Patrol Station for processing.
