ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Wednesday that the Dallas Cowboys expect to release quarterback Tony Romo on Thursday. Here is ESPN's report on Romo.

When asked about his thoughts on Romo reportedly being released from the Cowboys, Williams replied via text: "Great day for Cowboy football."

Williams was a teammate of Romo's for three seasons in Dallas.

In a Jan. 12 interview with Local 2/Fox 24, Wiliams discussed his thoughts on Romo and Cowboys owner, Jerry Jones:

"I know people love Romo and say 'Look at his stats' and this that and the other. I like the guy. I don't have no bad feelings about him, but I just think that , you know, and everybody wants to say 'Jerry is this and Jerry is that' -- and I love Jerry. He's built an empire. He's who he is. I think the only mistake he did is he kept Romo too long." - Roy Williams to Local 2/Fox 24
