"Probable" Case of Mumps Reported At ECISD School

Officials still awaiting details to confirm mumps case

ODESSA, Texas (Local 2/FOX24) -

The mumps outbreak sweeping across Texas could be making its way into West Texas schools.

According to ECISD spokesman Mike Adkins, a mumps case at Wilson and Young Middle School is considered to be “probable”.

He says the district is awaiting new information before the case can be confirmed.

All school illnesses and sicknesses are tracked by the Ector County Health Department, according to Adkins.

ECISD did send a notice to parents at Wilson and Young letting them know there was a “probable case”.

According to CNN, there have been 221 confirmed cases of mumps in Texas this year which is the most in 22 years.
