Presidio Police Warning Public of Kidnapping Scam

PRESIDIO, Texas (Local 2/Fox 24) - Imagine receiving a call from a stranger telling you someone in your family has been kidnapped.

That is what the Presidio Police Department is currently dealing with after receiving several reports of extortion calls in recent days.

Police officials say they have received numerous reports of someone calling from the number 664-214-9504 telling victims that they have kidnapped a family member and if they do not pay a certain amount, the family member will be killed.

Officials say the scammers even go as far as to have someone in the background of the call pretending to the be family member.

Police officials are urging anyone who receives a call like this to either not answer, or hang up immediately and contact the police department at 432-229-3527.
