Police: Suspect Found with Drugs, Stolen Items

ODESSA, Texas (Local 2/Fox 24) - One man is facing multiple charges after police reportedly found him with drugs and other items on Sunday.

The investigation began around 9:01 a.m. Sunday when Odessa Police officers were called to Hawthorne Court about a burglary.

The victim told police that someone entered her home and took a smart watch and a purse that contained a drivers license and a social security card, according to a release.

Later that day, officers were called to the 1300 block of West University about a found property call.

Officers spoke to the victim who said they had been tracking the watch via a GPS function, police say.

While tracking the watch, officers reportedly located a suspect in a pickup and noticed a watch in the seat and a purse in the floorboard.

Police say they also found the suspect, later identified as Brandon Whatley, with a syringe, which tested positive for heroin.

Whatley was also reportedly found with two drivers licenses, four social security cards and a credit card belonging to five different people.

He was then arrested and charged with burglary of a habitation, fraudulent use or possession of identifying information and possession of heroin.
