Monahans Asking for Help in Honoring Fallen Trooper

WARD COUNTY, Texas (Local 2/Fox 24) - The Monahans Chamber of Commerce is asking for help in honoring a fallen DPS Trooper killed in the line of duty.

Chambers officials sent out a request for help on Tuesday asking the community to donate so signs can be erected in honor of Trooper Billy Jack Zachary.

In May, the Texas Legislature passed a bill designating a portion of Interstate 20 "Trooper Billy Jack Zachary Memorial Highway."

The catch is, Ward County has to cover the cost for signage.

Officials say signage will cost about $19,000.

Donations can be sent to the Chamber at 401 S. Dwight, Monahans, TX 79756.

For more information contact the chamber at 432-943-2187.
