AUSTIN, Texas (Local 2/Fox 24) - One former Midland County Commissioner and current Midland County reserve deputy has been tapped by the governor in regards to juvenile justice.
James Smith has been appointed by Governor Greg Abbott to serve on the Texas Juvenile Justice Board along with four others.
According to a release from the Governor's office, Smith is a commercial realtor and has chaired the Texas Juvenile Justice Board Trust Committee.
Smith has also reportedly served as the county representative to the Midland Teen Court.
Board terms are set to expire Feb. 1, 2023.
Also appointed to the board include:
- James Castro of Bergheim.
- Stephanie Moreno of Beeville.
- Allison Palmer of San Angelo.
- Pama Hencerling of Victoria.
