Crockett Elementary to Close, Faskin Students to be Transferred

MISD Board of Trustees Vote Monday Night

MIDLAND, Texas (Local 2/FOX24) -

MISD voting to close Crockett Elementary saying students deserve better than the school that's received a needs improvement rating 6 years in a row from the TEA. "Not because things were tried different or people weren't working hard but the bottom line was it didn't work and it had failed," Rick Davis of MISD addressed the crowd.

Parents however feel MISD is using scapegoats for a lack of attention to improve the school. "What did you do to help enrich the teachers of staff? What did you do? You left them hanging. You said you provided everything for them and you didn't," says parent Camilla Saddler.

While parents from Crockett now have to prepare for their students to attend Milam and De Zavala Elementary. Students from the 349 corridor zone of Faskin will attend a new school located on the Crockett campus with a new administration.
