Contractors still repairing damage from last summer's hail storms

The last major hail storm was in June 2017

ODESSA, Texas (Local 2/Fox 24) - June 14, 2017 was a day the Permian Basin was rocked by one of the worst hail storms it's ever seen. At Permian Glass, they're still hard at work.

"We've had to deal with a lot. A lot of stressful situations," says Silvia Gaylor, who works at Permian Glass.

But now in February of 2018, you would think most of the damage from last summer is repaired. In Permian Glass' case, they've had their hands full.

"Honestly, I can say maybe about 80 to a 100 on the list, customers," says Gaylor.

The company says they still receive calls every week from people asking for repairs. These calls range from houses to cars. Houses are especially difficult due to the double paned glass they require.

"You have to special order those, and they take one to two weeks to come in," says Gaylor.

Arthur Montoya has hail damage from last June. He says while it's frustrating at first, you have to be patient.

"Well at the end, I hope that they are able to come out in a timely manner, and get it repaired so we can keep moving forward," says Montoya.

Last year's hail storm did more damage than Permian Glass has ever seen before, and they say it's going to take some time before everything is back to normal.

"That's all we can ask for is for them to be patient," says Gaylor. "We are working as hard as we can, everyone want's their house normal."
