Big Bend Reports Record Numbers

BIG BEND, Texas (Local 2/Fox 24) - Big Bend National Park is breaking records.

This time, it is the number of visitors who have ventured out to explore in the park.

Officials with BBNP say visitation increased by two percent from last year.

Park officials attributed the increase to various programs and attractions such as the centennial year, astronomy weekend, Junior Ranger events and BioBlitz, among others.

“Over our centennial year it was exciting to see new and returning park visitors engaging with the park and appreciating what is protected and preserved here,” says Big Bend NP Acting Superintendent Vidal Davila. “We look forward to fostering connections with these places for the generations to come.” Fort Davis NHS Superintendent Barney Riley agrees.
