Big Bend National Park Brings Big Money to Economy

BIG BEND NATIONAL PARK, Texas (Local 2) -

Tourism at Big Bend National Park is bringing in big money to the local economy.

According to a new National Park Service report, a total of 388,290 people visited the park in 2016, bringing in nearly $40 million to the economy.

Those visitors also spent about $34.2 million dollars in communities near the park, which also supported more than 500 jobs in the area.

“Big Bend National Park welcomes visitors from across the country and around the world,” said Acting Superintendent Vidal Davila.  “We are delighted to share the story of this place and the experiences it provides.”
