John C. Mayer

Chief Meteorologist

After hearing him speak for just a few seconds, you might get the sneaking suspicion that John Mayer isn't exactly a native Texan. In fact, his journey actually began 2,000 miles away!

Born in Danbury, Connecticut, John spent his early years in New England before switching one brand of cold for another with a move to Northeast Ohio. His time in the area led to his unwavering support of the Cleveland Cavaliers and a distinct love-hate relationship with Lebron James.

While John graduated with a degree in Geography and Economics from Bowling Green State University, he didn't discover his true passion of Broadcast Meteorology until attending graduate school at Mississippi State University. With his first move to the South, John honed his skills and truly began to take his first steps on the way to West Texas. During his final year at MSU, John manned the weather center as the weekend morning meteorologist at WJTV in the great city of Jackson, Mississippi.

All this prepared John for his further trek to the Southwest, where he became a proud member of the KMID/KPEJ team as the Chief Meteorologist.

John is a huge fan of trivia, game shows, and sports. If you run into John while you’re out and about, feel free to teach him some Texas sayings, or strike up a conversation about the weather.

Be sure to like and follow John on social media! You'll be able to find his latest forecasts, weather blog entries, and even a few angry rants when his favorite teams lose.
